Invisible Threads named a HiP Award Honoree

That’s a wrap on NeoCon 2022 and it was a productive 3 days for Design Pool. Our team loved introducing Design Pool to interior designers, architects, and students in the commercial interior industry. We are thrilled to let you know our work was recognized by Interior Design Magazine. First, Interior Design named Invisible Threads a HiP Award Honoree in the health and wellness: fabric and wall covering category. Also, Design Pool was featured in the Interior Design NeoCon Daily on Day 2.

What are the HiP Awards?

Interior Design’s 9th Annual HiP Awards is a recognition program honoring industry people and innovative products. Interior Design’s editor-in-chief Cindy Allen presented awards to HiP Award Winner and HiP Award Honoree attendees in a wide range of categories to honor commercial industry pioneers and achievements in product design. Both Kristen Dettoni and Kristin Crane attended the awards ceremony on Sunday night at theMART.

Invisible Threads is suitable for a wide range of uses, but Kristen designed it with healthcare interiors in mind. Why healthcare? Because healthcare and senior living environments have stringent performance requirements for materials and many materials are simply not options, especially richly textured textiles. Yet, texture is elemental in how we experience the world and helps us form memories. Through this collection, Design Pool sought to offer residents unable to have physically tactile materials in their spaces a material that is visually similar. Using digital printing, Kristen created high-performance materials with the look of embroidery.

Our partner, LDI Interiors digitally prints all patterns in Invisible Threads on EnviroLeather, their luxurious, leather-like line of wipeable coated fabrics. This fabric uses innovative technology in performance coatings and formulations and is leading the movement toward sustainable, high-performance, less toxic fabrics. These patterns aren’t just for upholstery though. As part of our licensable library, these patterns can be printed with any of our printing partners.

Kristen Dettoni designed all the patterns in Invisible Threads. After the event, she commented, “It is an honor to have Interior Design recognize Design Pool two years in a row. The future of on-demand manufacturing is here! I’m so excited to be leading the way toward making this technology accessible to interior designers.”
