Introducing FabriTRAK Systems

We are so excited to introduce FabriTRAK Systems as the newest company licensing Design Pool patterns. Now, interior designers can have any of our patterns in the licensable library printed on FabriTRAK Systems’ unique stretch wall and ceiling acoustic systems. These systems create premium sound solutions for interior spaces. The best part? Custom work is their standard. It’s the perfect collaboration!

What is the FabriTRAK System?

The FabriTRAK System was invented in 1977 to create an acoustic stretch wall system that incorporated the use of fabrics as a design element that could be reused and replaced with a new fabric, saving on labor and materials. FabriTRAK Systems creates upholstered ceilings and walls where the fabric is tucked into a ‘trak’ and switched out easily when the need arises.

The traditional FabriTRAK® and PVC-free, eco-friendly GeoTRAK® Systems incorporate infill, so the room sounds as good as it looks. Available in different thicknesses and NRC ratings, the infill is polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. This material is manufactured in the United States without the use of water and is 100% recyclable.

FabriTRAK Systems also offers FabriFELT™ and leather that can be used in their systems. However, they primarily print patterns, art, and images to their FabriSPAN® fabric line in widths of 10’ and 16’. FabriSPAN® fabrics are printed without chemicals, in a system that qualifies for LEED interiors. Visually, the textile options are broad and printable, with a variety of designs and patterns for designers to choose from.

Who uses the FabriTRAK System?

Interior designers specify the FabriTRAK® or GeoTRAK® System in traditional commercial spaces such as board rooms and meeting rooms in offices, as well as other spaces such as education, healthcare, restaurants, sports venues, and hospitality interiors. “The world seems loud post-pandemic,” said Linda d’Angelo-Sarlui, FabriTRAK’s VP, Director of Marketing and International Sales. Many schools are retrofitting classrooms, cafeterias, and auditoriums with acoustics in mind. Hearing health has become a big issue for schools. Educators want to protect students hearing, but also research shows that noise can negatively impact language development and concentration.

There is also a lot of growth in healthcare for these systems in spaces such as doctor’s offices, nurse stations, waiting rooms, and other spaces where people want a level of privacy. The hospitality industry is also thinking about interior sound. Spaces like restaurants, sports arenas, and fitness centers are realizing it’s not just how a space looks, but how it sounds.

Interchangeability is a big part of the FabriTRAK® System. As trends ebb and flow, it is easy for businesses to change the look of a space by popping out one fabric and putting in another. By comparison, changing out a wallpaper can be an expensive and arduous task. They are also working on a take-back program to help recycle the materials at the end of their lifecycle.

Licensing from Design Pool

One of the most frequent questions FabriTRAK’s salespeople get is, “Where is your library?” For them, custom work is standard. They can print anything on their fabrics. Interior designers often have a look on their mood boards and need to find the right pattern. Design Pool’s library of licensable designs will help fill that gap. Interior designers can search through hundreds of patterns to find the perfect pattern. They can also use Design Pool as a starting point for a custom pattern.  According to Linda d’Angelo-Sarlui, “The breadth of the patterns and artwork available on the Design Pool site offers the interior designer inspiration and customization if needed; our clients appreciate the creativity Design Pool offers.”

You can learn more about the FabriTRAK® System by checking out their website or following them on social media.  And when you’re ready to place an order, all you need to do is pick your pattern by looking through our licensable library! If you are interested in working together on a custom-printed fabric with a Design Pool pattern, reach out to FabriTRAK System to get started. They’ll coordinate the artwork and connect you with a licensed FabriTRAK Systems dealer.
