Custom Upholstery at Six Point Brewery
Using Design Pool as a starting point makes it easy for interior designers to customize projects big and small for their clients. Recently, we worked with a designer from Change Up, a design firm in Ohio, to develop a new pattern for custom upholstery. The upholstery was slated for Six Point Brewery, a new restaurant and bar in Brooklyn, New York.
The process for custom upholstery.
For this project, the designer first looked through our licensable library to see if a pattern that fit her vision already existed. When she didn’t see what she was looking for, she reached out to work together on a custom pattern. For this project, she was looking for a basic check pattern with a twist. She wanted it to be black and white with some distortion to create an optical illusion. Design Pool founder Kristen Dettoni worked closely with her to develop a new pattern that fit this particular need.
The end result was pattern Contort, a bold, black-and-white check pattern distorted to create the optical illusion the designer was looking for. Additionally, to give the pattern more depth and dimension, Kristen added subtle texture to the squares, giving it the look of real woven cloth.
Once approved, the final pattern was printed on EnviroLeather Prints by LDI Interiors at their facility in New Hampshire. This material was perfect for upholstery in a busy restaurant because it is a wipeable, durable coated fabric, making it easy to clean up after beer spills. It also passes all other commercial requirements for use in hospitality.
Once upholstered, the seating in Six Point Brewery looks fun and unexpected. Installed on white chairs in an industrial space, they create a striking look. And the optical effect must be even more fun to experience after a couple of beers!
Let’s work together!
