Turn Over A New Leaf Collection

Our Turn Over a New Leaf Collection features your favorite leaf patterns from the Design Pool pattern library in one collection. Why leaves? Many designers are often looking for ways to bring the outdoors in. Specifying materials with motifs inspired by nature is one way to do that, especially in spaces that may not have access or views of the outdoors. While many designers use florals to beautiful effect, some people perceive flowers as more feminine. Leaves, on the other hand, are a way to bring elements of the natural world into an environment in a way that is more neutral. Our Turn Over a New Leaf Collection is full of patterns with a mix of styles and moods.

The benefits of embracing change in your life were the inspiration behind the collection’s name. As an entrepreneur, Kristen constantly reflects on her decision to leave the corporate world and launch Design Pool. At that point, she was definitely turning over a new leaf.  At this point, she couldn’t picture her life any other way.

Let’s take a closer look at the Turn Over a New Leaf Collection.

In pattern Leaf and Berry, berries instead of flowers add an additional element to the design. This also gives the opportunity to play with pops of color to tie in other elements from a room.

Tossed Leaves is a bold and vibrant contemporary pattern with a graphic and illustrative nature that makes it a playful choice for an interior.

Geometric Tossed Leaves is a more traditional leaf pattern with watercolor texture in the motifs to give it richness.  Additionally, the texture in the ground lends this pattern the look of a fabric, making it the perfect choice for flat substrates that need some visual texture.

Semicircle with Leaves is an airy, contemporary pattern with movement and grace. Likewise, Geometric Vines has a graceful sweep to it that feels light and elegant.

Kristen originally designed Beech Tree for assisted living environments to help bring the outdoors inside. The upright branches fan out with leaves, some with texture, to give the pattern a sense of movement and growth. Pattern Frond is a sophisticated combination of nature and geometry that is also suitable for assisted living interiors.

In the pattern Undulating Leaves, there is a soothing rhythm similar to ocean waves. Fallen Leaves, on the other hand, has a randomness that feels more playful and energetic.

Stylized Tossed Leaves, Wood Cut Leaves, and Embroidered Leaves are three patterns each with unique texture. In Stylized Tossed Leaves, the shapes are abstracted leaves tossed on a textured ground. This creates a pattern with a lot of movement and warmth. Kristen created Wood Cut Leaves from original block prints whose handmade quality shows through in this final digital design. Finally, Embroidered Leaves contains depth and dimension. These traditional leaf shapes of New England give the impression they felted and embroidered.

The last three patterns in this collection are allover patterns, each with a different feel. Paper Birch is a celestial looking design with polka dots in the background and floating leaves in groups of three. Sketch Leaf began as a quick sketch in a sketchbook. Kristen took this sketch and played with scale before repeating out motifs to form an allover pattern. Lastly, Petal, is a transparent leaf inspired by Money Tree leaves and layered onto a textured ground.
