The Coastal Collection
Long summer days in New England inspired the Design Pool Coastal Collection. In this collection, Kristen drew on her roots and childhood growing up in the coastal town of Hingham, Massachusetts, on what is referred to locally as the South Shore. Her favorite beach growing up was Nantasket Beach in Hull, Massachusetts. Living close to the coast developed a love of the ocean that has lasted a lifetime. “I am always drawn to the coast and can’t see myself ever living too far from the ocean,” Kristen said.
To design the Coastal Collection, Kristen mined her memories.
At the beginning of her design process, Kristen looked back through photos from family trips to the beach. Additionally, she revisited vacations she’d taken as an adult to places like the Outer Banks in North Carolina or Sanibel Island in Florida. In this collection, she aimed to revisit those memories through pattern and color. She looked through photos and travel journals and started drawing motifs from these references of shells, lighthouses, fish and sunsets.
When she was done, she had ten new patterns perfect to use in coastal homes or businesses, on beach-inspired products, or anywhere that would benefit from some ocean air.
