Teleidoscope Collection – New in the Library
Introducing the Teleidoscope Collection, now in the pattern library! This collection of eight patterns takes motifs created by Kristen and turns them into something exciting by imagining them through the lens of a teleidoscope. The resulting patterns have a lot of movement and whimsy. Also, they coordinate so well with other patterns in the library, making it easy to mix and match patterns in a space.
But first, what is a Teleidoscope?
A teleidoscope is a kind of kaleidoscope. Most of us have used a kaleidoscope at some point, but do we know how it works? Britannica defines a kaleidoscope as an “optical device consisting of mirrors that reflect images of bits of coloured glass in a symmetrical geometric design through a viewer. The design may be changed endlessly by rotating the section containing the loose fragments. The name is derived from the Greek words kalos (“beautiful”), eidos (“form”), and skopein (“to view”).”
When using a kaleidoscope, viewers are looking into a closed tube and the mirrors and light are reflecting pieces of colored glass, tinsel, or beads to create a pattern within the tube. A teleidoscope is different from a kaleidoscope in that it isn’t a closed tube, but rather has an open view. It creates patterns by reflecting whatever the lens is pointing at. Aim it at a flower, or your dog, and you’ll have a reflective pattern with those images.
Kristen first played with the idea of kaleidoscopes in 2023, when she designed the Kaleidoscope Collection. Working with this idea was so fun, she just had to revisit it with different motifs.
Build your own collections.
You can license these patterns to use on their own or you can build out a grouping that coordinates. Need some inspiration? Here are a few suggestions to help you get started.
For an underwater vibe, mix Teleidoscope Shell with the patterns Sanibel and Aquarium.

Teleidoscope Grasslands works perfectly with patterns inspired by wildflowers and prairies.

Rather than coordinating by theme, coordinate by color. Teleidoscope Citrus coordinates nicely with simple geometrics and stripes.

Using Teleidoscope Cotton as your feature pattern, mix with an allover pattern such as Cotton and a texture such as New England Cane to round out a room.

Ready to bring whimsy and movement to your space?
