2024: A Year of Growth & Inspiration

As the year draws to a close, we’ve been looking back and reflecting on the progress we’ve made, the milestones we’ve celebrated, and what lies ahead in the new year. 2024 has been transformative for Design Pool, and I’m thrilled to share some of the highlights that have defined this year for us.

Getting published in Interior Design magazine.

It has always been a dream and a goal of Kristen’s to be published in Interior Design Magazine. This year we were so excited to have that dream realized in the June/July issue. The full page feature highlighted our Light Play collection which debuted at NeoCon.

Receiving a HiP Award Honoree at NeoCon 2024.

Interior Design recognized two of our collections, Light Play and Technology X Tradition, as Honorees at the HiP Awards, an event they host each year at NeoCon.

Launching Shop Direct.

When Design Pool launched, Kristen always knew that one day she wanted to add the option to shop directly from the site. This year that finally happened with the launch of Shop Direct. Shop our most popular patterns on window film and peel-and-stick wallpaper.

Making art is always a highlight.

The reality of entrepreneurship is that the line between life and work is pretty porous. What we do outside of the office is constantly influencing what happens inside the office. That’s why these milestones are also important to us.

Kristen’s first solo art show.

This summer, Kristen had her first solo art show, Top Secret, at Studio Place Arts in Vermont. Kristen developed this show around her explorations with code and cryptology.

Collaborating with Dayna Hartford.

You Are Here, a collaboration with Dayna Hartford, gave us an opportunity to showcase everything that is possible with print on-demand.

Teaching at Snow Farm

It was Kristen’s second time teaching at Snowfarm after her residency there in 2022. It was such a success, that she’ll be back there in Spring 2025 teaching this class again. Registration opens on January 26, 2025.

Speaking Italian in Italy.

Kristen had been taking Italian lessons for years, hoping to one day return to Italy and navigate life around her more easily. That hard work paid off this fall when she traveled to Italy with her husband.

Looking Ahead to 2025.

League of New Hampshire Craftsmen

Recently, the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen accepted Kristen as a member. After a long jurying process, she is thrilled to connect to more local artists.

Upcoming Exhibits

I am always on the look out for interesting exhibits related to textiles and interiors to highlight on the blog. This year, I can not wait for two exciting exhibits coming to the Museum of Modern Art. First,Woven Histories, Textiles and Modern Abstraction opens on April 20, 2025 . Also at MoMA, Ruth Asawa, A Retrospective opens on October 19, 2025.

Over in Western Mass, Wall Power! Modern French Tapestry from the Mobilier national, Paris opens at The Clark Institute on December 14 and runs through March 9.
