I first learned needle punch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designpoolpatterns.com\/a-creative-vacation-to-england-ireland-and-scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on a trip to Scotland.<\/a> Ever since, I continue to create unique pieces, many of which have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designpoolpatterns.com\/faber-birrin-national-color-show-on-view-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exhibited in galleries around the United States<\/a>. This year, I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach this to you at Snow Farm. And it\u2019s not just needle punch, we\u2019ll also dye our own yarn using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designpoolpatterns.com\/natural-dyeing-with-materials-in-our-yard-and-kitchen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">natural dyes<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve never heard of Snow Farm, it is a nonprofit residential craft school located in Williamsburg, Massachusetts. This town, in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, is a beautiful area rich with artists and the nearby college towns of Northampton and Amherst. (Bonus for fiber lovers: Northampton is home of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yarn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Webs<\/a> and they have a physical store you can shop.)<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.designpoolpatterns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/DesignPool-KristenDettoni-ErinLongPhotography_429-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Kristen Dettoni sitting on step outside fibers building at Snow Farm Craft.\" class=\"wp-image-25937\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>In March 2022, I completed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designpoolpatterns.com\/my-snow-farm-art-residency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a two-week artist residency at Snow Farm<\/a>. During this time, I had the entire fiber studio to myself with nothing but pure creative time. I enjoyed feeling completely free to just be creative in this beautiful place and explore new concepts and ideas without interruption. I was thrilled when Snow Farm invited me back to teach. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.designpoolpatterns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/DesignPool-KristenDettoni-ErinLongPhotography_376-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Kristen Dettoni working on punch needle art piece with natural dyed yarn.\" class=\"wp-image-25939\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Needle Punch Class Description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Needle punching is a fun, easy technique that combines elements of rug hooking and embroidery and yields beautiful results. In this workshop, start by hand-dyeing wool with natural elements such as cochineal and madder. Then combine the dyed yarn with other colors and design an 8\u201d x 8\u201d wall hanging using both loop and cut pile. Learn about color combinations, basic composition, and how to be spontaneous with the yarn. No experience necessary. No supply fee; an instructor kit fee of $110 is payable in class and includes the frame and punch needle for students to take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The class runs for three days, and lodging is available on the Snow Farm grounds. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.designpoolpatterns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/DesignPool-KristenDettoni-ErinLongPhotography_458-3-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Punch Needle art piece made by Kristen Dettoni at Snow Farm Craft.\" class=\"wp-image-25940\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>If you have any questions about what this class will be like, please reach out.
