Team Design Pool was already working remotely from our homes in East Hampstead, New Hampshire, and Providence, Rhode Island when stay-at-home directives were issued. BUT….our husbands hadn’t been. It was fun to watch them create workable spots in our homes. And then, over the weeks, to see how they’ve adapted to remote working. How did it go? So far, so good. (Both couples still intact!) It was interesting to see how quickly they set up a new workspace. And then, as days turned to months, how they settled into a completely new way of working. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And they’re not alone. Our Instagram and Pinterest feeds are flooded with photos of other people doing the same thing. We wrote before about being productive while working from home<\/a> and top of the list was to create a dedicated workspace. As we’ve watched people do just that, we can’t help but spot a few trends in your work from home decor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are still not feeling like your space is working for you, we rounded up those trends on a Pinterest<\/a> board. Head there for a little inspiration for your own space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what’s on trend in work from home decor?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Plants<\/strong>
So many plants! It’s amazing what even one small plant can do to breathe life into a space. Add a couple of plants and it adds a soothing vibe to a whole room or just a corner of one. In addition to the beauty and air, a plant also adds a sense of calm. Taking care of a plant can be relaxing and good for one’s mental health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Floating Shelves<\/strong>
Floating shelves are an efficient and attractive space-saving solution. Use just one or a few for additional storage or purely decor items. They come in a wide range of sizes, colors, and materials and look smart in many different interior styles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of Light<\/strong>
The right lighting helps set the scene for any room, so use it to make an impact in your workspace. What kind of light does your work require? You’ll be spending a lot of time in this new space. Be sure you have enough light to keep your eyes from straining. If your work requires you to match colors, be sure you have bulbs that will not have a negative impact on the color. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accent Walls<\/strong>
We’re big fans of accent walls<\/a> in all kinds of spaces, so it’s fun to see so many people incorporating them into their new work from home spaces. The peel and stick wall decals are growing in popularity. Not only are they easy to put up and take down, but they also provide a good backdrop for all those video calls and Zoom meetings. If you’ve got other patterns already in the room, coordinate <\/a>that accent wall to complement the existing patterns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Area Rugs<\/strong>
People are getting creative by using area rugs to define an area and make it its own space. For those setting up a workspace in a bedroom or living room, adding an area rug under a desk can differentiate that space. Area rugs also add color and texture and can tie a whole room together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
